There are floors that impress. There are floors that inspire. And then there are floors that tell the story of an entire culture — floors that stop people mid-step because what they’re standing on is too extraordinary to walk past without looking down. GonzaBuilt built that floor for a Miami hip hop museum, and there is nothing else like it anywhere in the world.
The commission called for something far beyond a standard epoxy installation. The museum’s client wanted the floor itself to be an exhibit — a living, sealed celebration of Miami’s hip hop roots that honored the artists, the moments, and the media that documented the city’s rise as a global force in the culture. GonzaBuilt answered with a vision as bold as the music it was built to celebrate.
The foundation of the floor is a handmade gold metallic epoxy system — rich, luminous, and dramatic, casting the kind of warm, reflective glow that makes every element embedded within it feel like it was lit from below. Into that golden surface, GonzaBuilt carefully placed posters of Miami-grown hip hop artists, positioned and sealed by hand to become permanent features of the floor itself. Hollywood-style walk-of-fame stars were incorporated to honor the legends of the genre, while vintage newspaper prints documenting pivotal moments in Miami’s hip hop history were embedded throughout — turning the floor into a timeline as much as a surface.
Every element was sealed beneath a high-gloss, ultra-durable topcoat built for the foot traffic of a busy cultural venue — protecting the art beneath it for decades without yellowing, cracking, or fading. The finished floor is not just functional. It is a permanent, walkable tribute to Miami’s creative legacy — one that visitors photograph, share, and remember long after they leave the building.
GonzaBuilt proudly serves museums, cultural venues, hospitality spaces, and commercial clients across Miami, Miami Beach, Wynwood, Little Havana, and all of Miami-Dade County. We don’t make floors. We make landmarks.
